The Mothers Union

Unfortunately The Mothers’ Union at Tewkesbury Abbey no longer meets but for further details about the work undertaken by Mothers’ Union members here in Gloucestershire, please visit the Diocese of Gloucester Mothers’ Union Web Site

Our vision is of a world where God’s love is shown through loving, respectful, and flourishing relationships

Praying: The members of Tewkesbury Abbey Mothers’ Union Branch journey together with others in our church congregations, to uphold the community in which we live and engage with – through prayer and care. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month.

Campaigning: Along with Mothers’ Union members from across the deanery we also participate in the 16 Days of Activism from 25 November until the 10 December each year; and a Rainbow Prayer Day pack is available from the Mothers’ Union Diocesan Office in Gloucester for groups / parishes to consider and reflect on seven different aspects towards the promoting of policy and practical action to alleviate social injustice in Britain and overseas. Domestic Abuse leaflets produced by Mothers’ Union are available for tourists who visit Tewkesbury Abbey during the year [approximately 20 are printed each month to replace those taken by visitors] and copies are also included in the literature available to clients using the Food Bank.

Enabling: Mothers’ Union members also fundraise to provide financial support to help those whose lives have met with adversity. Our mission is to demonstrate the Christian faith in action by the transformation of communities, both locally and globally, through the nurture of the family in its many forms.
