St John's Guild
The Guild has been meeting at Tewkesbury Abbey sine 1997. Membership gives spiritual support, information and Guild publications to people who are visually impaired.
St John’s Guild was founded in 1919 through the initiative of Miss Dorothy Light and the Revd Christian Waudy, a blind Anglican priest who was concerned at the isolation and loneliness in which so many blind people lived. Today the Guild supports many branches throughout England and publishes a newsletter and magazine in Braille, on audio tape and in large print.
The Guild Office address is Sovereign Houe, 12/14 Warwick Street, Earlson, Coventry, CV5 6ET. St Raphael’s in St Albans is a residential home providing 24 hour care to visually impaired people.
Tewkesbury Branch of the Guild meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month (except August) at 2.30pm in the Fitzhamon Room in the Visitor Centre. Kath Hutton leads the branch meetings.
