White and Green ArrangementTewkesbury Abbey Flower Guild

The Abbey Flower Guild is a happy group of friends, who week by week, seek to enhance the beauty of the Abbey, for both worshipper and visitor alike, with a variety of floral arrangements, produced mainly from flowers and foliage grown by members in the Abbey's own Walled Garden.

The main festivals of Christmas, Easter and Harvest are given special attention, as well as other Abbey Festivals.

Special arrangements are also regularly produced as Memory Flowers or for Weddings throughout the year.

Members are also involved with the Town's Flower Club and Flower Festivals in other local churches.

We are all amateurs, but willing to give of our time and we consider it a privilege and a pleasure to serve God in this way.  If this inspires the green fingered (of any shade!) among you, please get in touch; new members are always welcome.

Arrangement by the font

If you are unable to visit the Abbey while your arrangement is displayed, we can arrange for a photo to be sent to you.

During Lent, while no flowers are displayed in the Abbey, donations are collected towards the cost of the white and yellow lilies with which the Abbey is decorated during the Easter season.

Dedication cards can be tied to the Memory Tree, from Palm Sunday, if donations have been made in memory of a loved one.

Each Friday morning the Abbey is a buzz with arrangers, but day by day there are many "behind the scenes" workers busy watering, tidying, and then cutting and preparing for the week ahead.

This picture shows some of the many lillies and greenery that were used to decorate the Abbey at Easter 2009.
